The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, a bill introduced by Representative Greg Steube from Florida. The legislation was approved with a bipartisan vote tallying 218-206-1.

Representative Steube expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “The House has delivered on its promise to protect women’s sports.” He emphasized that the bill aims to ensure fairness by restricting participation in women’s sports programs to biological females only.

Chairman Walberg of the Education and Workforce Committee also supported the bill’s passage, saying, “Allowing women and girls to suffer for the sake of the dishonesty of wokeness is inexcusable.”

The Republican Study Committee backs this legislation, which boasts 83 cosponsors. RSC Chairman August Pfluger highlighted its significance: “For over fifty years, Title IX has opened doors for millions of young women. Now, we’re reinforcing those foundations with iron-clad protections.”

The act has received endorsements from several organizations including Independent Women’s Voice and Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.

In previous sessions of Congress, Rep. Steube made efforts to advance similar legislation. During the 118th Congress, his bill passed without any Democratic support but was not taken up by the Senate under Democrat leadership.
