U.S. Representative Greg Steube has announced the nomination of 26 students from Florida’s 17th Congressional District to various U.S. Service Academies for the Class of 2029. The nominations are for the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

“This group of students represents the very best of our district,” said Rep. Steube. “Each of them embodies a commitment to service and excellence that inspires hope for our country’s future. I am honored to support their aspirations to lead as officers in the United States military.”

The nominees include students from Sarasota County, Charlotte County, Lee County, and Department of Defense Education Activity schools.

In Sarasota County, nominees are Ava Michalopoulous, Travis Novak, Keller Button, Zoe Kirby, Parker Wilding, Christine Wu, Gabriel Live, Stephen Fancher Jr., Joshua McIntire (a high school graduate), Alexander Malaj, Sidney Brann, Isabella Tovar, Sydney Pablo and Aidan McDonald who was nominated posthumously.

Charlotte County nominees are Katelyn Reed, Patrick Hooper, Angela Sanchez, Logan Keith Nina Dotres Siena Pirri Thor Scaperotta AJ Hua Quinn Briggs and Maya Harris.

From Lee County Jaden White received a nomination while Mitchell Horrigan from Vicenza American High School under DoDEA Europe South District was also nominated.
