West Florida Public Libraries issued the following announcement on Jan. 27.
West Florida Public Libraries donated 40 handmade pillowcases to Studer Family Children's Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The pillowcases were made during adult quilting, sewing and crochet classes that are held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Tryon Branch Library and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at Pensacola Library.
Amanda Soldani and Sydney O’Malley, certified child specialists, were thrilled to see the special delivery from the librarians.“The children will get to pick their own pillowcase, and it’s like their pillow away from home," Soldani said.
Studer Family Children's Hospital has a wish list for donations, one being, pillowcases. Each pillowcase will provide comfort to a child, and each pillowcase is a symbol of a patron's caring creation born from a new skill or building upon the existing skill of sewing.
Library patrons are not only proud of their accomplishments, but honored to be a part of the community.
