DESOTO COUNTY CAREER CRIMINAL SENTENCED TO OVER 20 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on April 28, 2019, when Robert Steven Harrelson, a previously convicted felon at the time, took off from deputies, eventually leading them on a chase! After catching and detaining him, Sergeant Jennifer Bailey, Detective Eduardo Trujillo and Detective James Albritton investigated and found several large plastic bags filled with over 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. On November 30, 2022, Harrelson pleaded guilty.
As of March 8, 2023, Harrelson has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Sheriff Potter is proud of the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit who were an active part of this investigation. Their determination and hard work were crucial in this case. Sheriff Potter is grateful for our law enforcement partners bringing this case to a successful conclusion and conviction.
