On March 21, 2023, DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Detective Pacheco conducted a traffic stop due to a speeding driver. Detective Friend responded to the scene, and K9 Kita sniffed out a total of 55.57 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, without a medical marijuana card.
During the investigation, a concerned citizen anonymously reported the driver, Colt Boatright had illegal narcotics as well as firearms at his home.
Detective Albritton and Detective Friend responded to the residence at 2818 SW Boll Weevil Road to speak with the homeowners. After receiving permission to search the camper, detectives found multiple firearms in plain sight and multiple bags full of methamphetamine.
Colt Boatright, a convicted felon, has pending drug related charges out of Charlotte County, as well as being previously arrest by Charlotte County Sheriff's Office on felony convictions including armed burglary, 8 counts of grand theft of a firearm and vehicle theft of over $20,000.
After DCSO Narcotics Unit detectives investigated and processed the evidence, a total of over half a pound of methamphetamine (249.93 grams), 5.15 grams of cocaine and four firearms were found in the home.
