WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) has introduced a new bill called the No Plea Deal with Terrorists Act, which aims to prevent plea deals for individuals responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The bill specifically targets Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow Al-Qaeda conspirators, who orchestrated the September 11, 2001 attacks on America.

According to Rep. Steube, the purpose of this legislation is to ensure that justice is served for the families of the nearly 3,000 victims and survivors of the 9/11 attacks. He believes that allowing Mohammed and his accomplices to escape a public trial and capital punishment would be a failure on the part of the Biden Administration to hold the terrorists accountable for one of the darkest days in American history.

In a statement, Rep. Steube emphasized the importance of a public trial and the possibility of the death penalty for those responsible for the 9/11 attacks. He said, "More than two decades after the horrific 9/11 hijackings, the trial of the 9/11 orchestrators must deliver justice for the families of nearly 3,000 victims and the survivors." He also expressed his concern that a plea deal would prevent the administration from fulfilling this duty.

The No Plea Deal with Terrorists Act would require the President to direct the Attorney General to refuse any plea deal for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow conspirators. The goal is to prevent the possibility of a plea deal that would hinder a public trial and remove the chance of imposing the death penalty.

It is important to note that no date has been set for a trial in the case of United States v. Khalid Shaikh Mohammad et al. However, the introduction of this bill by Rep. Steube demonstrates a strong effort to ensure that those responsible for the 9/11 attacks are held accountable and that justice is served.

The No Plea Deal with Terrorists Act is a significant step towards fulfilling this objective. By preventing plea deals for the orchestrators of the 9/11 attacks, the bill aims to guarantee that the families of the victims and the survivors receive the justice they deserve. With the introduction of this legislation, Rep. Steube is urging the Biden Administration to prioritize accountability and ensure that the terrorists responsible for one of the darkest days in American history face the consequences of their actions.
