The U.S. House of Representatives has approved an amendment to H.R. 8070, the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, introduced by Representative Greg Steube. The amendment restricts the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) from utilizing funds from this act to purchase, display, or maintain materials that promote radical gender ideology or pornographic content.
"Today, my amendment passed the House to ensure we protect the children entrusted to DoD schools by our men and women in uniform," said Rep. Steube. "A litany of examples exist of inappropriate and pornographic material that is available in DoD schools. Radical gender ideology and pornographic content have no place in an educational setting and could seriously harm the educational and psychological development of school children belonging to our U.S. service members. Yet, radical leftists desire to use schools as a tool to indoctrinate our children as soon as they enter Kindergarten. Congress has the power to put a stop to it in DoD schools, and I’m glad my colleagues supported my efforts today on the floor."
Fox News investigated over 50 randomly selected DoDEA schools and reported in 2022 that "many of the pornographic and radical gender ideology books were added within the last two years amid President Biden taking office."
DoDEA serves nearly 70,000 children of active duty military personnel and Department of Defense civilian families at more than 160 schools across 11 foreign countries, seven states, and several U.S. territories. It is one of only two Federally-operated school systems responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense.
