U.S. Representative Greg Steube has announced a new installment in the Veterans History Project Series, featuring an interview with Lt. Col. John Knox of the United States Army. Lt. Col. Knox has served in significant operations such as the Gulf War, the Global War on Terror, Operation Just Cause, and Operation Restore Hope.
"Lieutenant Colonel John Knox embodies the dedication, innovation, and leadership that define the best of our armed forces," stated Congressman Steube. "From spearheading critical IED countermeasures in Afghanistan to leading vital task forces that protected countless lives, his contributions have left an indelible mark on our nation’s defense and the safety of our troops."
Lt. Col. Knox's work in Afghanistan included establishing the first Improvised Explosive Device (IED) task force and providing comprehensive IED training. His team comprised former Delta Force operators, FBI agents, EOD personnel, and other specialized contractors who worked to mitigate IED threats and develop countermeasures.
Reflecting on his service, Lt. Col. Knox advised: "Do your job. Your job isn’t a 9-to-5. Take care of your people, and they’ll take care of you."
The interview explores Lt. Col. Knox's leadership philosophy and strategic innovations during his military career.
Congressman Steube’s office will submit this interview to the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress's American Folklife Center.
The Veterans History Project was started in 2000 to collect personal accounts from U.S military veterans for educational purposes.
