City of Panama issued the following announcement.
The City of Panama City is accepting additional applications for its Hometown Heroes program.
The program honors those who are serving or have served our country in the United States Armed Forces with streetlight banners hung throughout Historic Downtown Panama City.
The City initially honored about 100 veterans with banners in May and is looking to place additional banners in November for Veterans Day.
The program, sponsored by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), is free and open to Bay County residents or immediate family members of a Bay County resident. The streetlight banners include the veteran’s name, branch of service, and photo in uniform. Applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To nominate your Hometown Hero for participation in this program, complete the online application form found in this link: https://seam.ly/LhP14gh9. Paper applications are also available in the lobby of City Hall, located at 501 Harrison Avenue, and may be submitted in Room 206 on the second floor.
