DeSoto County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.
At 2am last night, DeSoto County Sheriff's Office received a report of a load trailer being stolen from Hardee County. The suspects probably thought it would be an easy score but the GPS on the trailer had other ideas.
That handy piece of technology lead Det. Albritton right to their location on Gene's Little Acres Ave. Sgt. Paeplow and Cpl. Bierman responded shortly thereafter.
Working as a team, our deputies quickly secured the suspects and brought K9 Lucy out to play! Cpl. Bierman conducted a free-air sniff of the truck where Lucy alerted him to the presence of narcotics.
Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found drug paraphernalia and several stashes of methamphetamine in the expected containers (plastic baggies, etc) and one...that was mixed into a soda (in an attempt to hide the evidence). Guess Michael Villegas liked his pop with extra "ice."
