OSPREY, FL -- U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) named Mia Liang, a student at Pine View School in Osprey, Florida, as the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition.

"Congratulations to Mia on being selected as this year's winner of the Congressional Art Competition," Rep. Greg Steube said. "Her piece of artwork, 'Grasping at Revolt' is unique and innovative. I look forward to seeing it in the halls of Congress. Thank you to all the students who participated this year. We have great artistic talent in the 17th District!"

Thanh Nguyen, a student at Port Charlotte High School was named second place for the piece, 'Hidden.' Aedan Teitsch, a student at Sarasota High School was named third place for the piece, 'Decrepit Cabin.'

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Students submit entries to their representative's office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The first-place winner is given the opportunity to display their artwork at the United States Capitol for one year.
